

JAMES LEON DUNN, 85, passed away on November 18, 2012 at Methodist North Hospital in Memphis. He was born in Lansing Michigan on February 28, 1927, and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He was a WWII veteran. Throughout his years, he worked as a teacher at Frayser and Millington High Schools, and later as a principal at Millington Central High School. He was an engineer for Magnavox in Greenville in East Tennessee, later returning to work as a Director for Shelby County Schools in the construction of many of the now present elementary, middle, and high schools. He served as an alderman and vice-mayor for Bartlett for two terms, and in later life he worked diligently as a volunteer with Ellendale Baptist Church, where he was a member. He enjoyed visiting homes in the Bartlett and Memphis area, spreading the word of God. This last endeavor was one of the most rewarding of his life. His hobbies were many. Those that standout the most are rebuilding cars, woodworking, and gardening. He loved working in the yard with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Geneva; his daughters, Elaine Bockhold (Leonard) and Nancy Koch (Karl); five grandchildren, Shannon Campbell, Forest Bockhold, Meredith Wolf, Ben Humphreys, and Lauren Melton (Scott); seven great-grandchildren, Jessica Campbell, Christin Campbell (Ryan), Caitlin Brannon, James Bockhold, Ethan Wadlow, Ryan Melton and Declan Melton; and four great-great-grandchildren, Zoe Willadsen, Reese and Brody Brannon and Heath Reams, all of the Memphis area. Also he leaves a stepson, Joey McKee (Doris); granddaughters, Missy and Jennifer, great-granddaughters, Kira and Kayla. Visitation will be between the hours of 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, with services at Ellendale Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012.
