James "Jim" R. West Sr.

January 14, 1935 – November 4, 2025

James R. West, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, at the age of 90. Born in Hoxie, Arkansas, and a longtime resident of Lakeland, Tennessee, Jim lived a life full of curiosity, kindness, and love for his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Kay F West; his children James R. West, Jr (Andrea), Lisa McGrory (Vince), and Christie Carroll (Timmy Cotton); and was preceded in death by his son David West.

Known to his family as “Pappy,” he will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Connor McGrory (Brittany Legens), Sarah McGrory-Harper (Seth), Jon-Paul McGrory (Sydney), Paul West, Matthew West (Jolie), Megan West, Nathan West (Rachel), Haley West, Lauren West and Timmy Cotton; and his great-grandchildren Roman West, Shanlee McGrory, Max Harper, and Steven McGrory.

Jim had a passion for estate sales, tinkering with old lawn equipment, and taking road trips to discover new places. His sense of adventure and humor brightened every room he entered.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization close to his heart

A visitation for James will be held Monday, November 10, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A funeral service will occur Monday, November 10, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A committal service will occur Monday, November 10, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Memory Hill Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133.
