John Amon Lewellen, 85, of Memphis, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016. He was born in Ripley, MS on December 27, 1930 to Claude Lee and Mary Rickles Lewellen. Mr Lewellen was a U.S. Army veteran and was a retired bus driver with Memphis Area Transit Authority. Mr. Lewellen was preceded in death by his dear wife, Frances Lewellen and is survived by a son, Brent (Jill) Lewellen of Rossville, TN; a brother, Doug (Treva) Lewellen of Ripley, MS and three grandchildren, Kyle (Sarah) Lewellen of Byhalia, MS and Leslie and Emily Catalani. Along with his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Lewellen; sister, Odessa Holladay and two brothers, Gene Mooney and Olan Lewellen. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday evening, November 16 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday morning, November 17, at the funeral home with interment to follow in Memorial Gardens.
