Joyce was born on June 15, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana the last of the 13 children born to the late James & Margaret Collins.
Along with her parents and twelve siblings, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Jessie T. Armstrong.
She is survived by her only daughter Pennie (Jimmy) Archer of Arlington, Tennessee; grandchildren Brandon (Ayla) Watson of Tipton County, Tennessee and Mackenzie Perry of Arlington.
