

Joyce Small Bousson, age 83, of Bartlett, died April 2, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed Bousson, to whom she was married for 58 years; by her son, Danny Bousson, and her sisters, Helen Denney, Pauline Jennings, and her twin-sister Loyce Loeffel. Her parents were John C. and Annie Small.
She is survived by four sons, Eddie Bousson (Julie), Mark Bousson (Tracey), Jeff Bousson (Kathy), Brent Bousson, and daughter-in-law Chyrel Bousson (Danny). She leaves 9 grandchildren, Jennifer O’Connell (Jeremy), Joey Bousson (Cassie), Amanda Cantrell (Luke), Megan Heinrich (Brett), Blake Bousson, Jake Bousson, Daniel Bousson, Rachael Bousson, Adelyn Bousson and 10 great-grandchildren. She graduated from Memphis State University with Bachelor and Masters of Education degrees after raising five sons. She retired from the Memphis City Schools as an elementary teacher and Assistant Principal with over 30 years’ experience. She also impacted the lives of many Kingsbury High School students as she co-produced theater-quality musicals with her husband, Ed. She met her husband at the Memphis Open Air Theater and appeared in many productions there. She was a former dancing instructor, cake decorator, and artist. The family would like to especially thank Betty Hunter for her dedication to Mom. We also thank the staff at Quail Ridge Assisted Living and Crossroads Hospice. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 7th from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be Friday, April 8th at 10 am, both at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N. Germantown Parkway in Bartlett. The family requests memorial gifts be sent to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
