Judy was born on November 28,1950 in Memphis, Tennessee to Lamar & Jannell Crowder. Judy graduated from Kingsbury High School where she made many lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Jerry Howell, her father Lamar Crowder and her brother Matt Crowder.
Judy is survived by her devoted husband and caregiver, Rev. Dale Gravatt; her daughter Stacey (John) Vanzant, and two grandsons Thomas (Stephanie) & Jacob (Molly Kayte) Vanzant, 4 Great-Grandchildren, her mother Jannell Crowder, her brother Tim (Janice) Crowder and many loving Nieces, Nephews and friends.
Judy worked many years at State Technical Institute of Memphis (Southwest Tennessee Community College) as a Secretary III in the Technology Division, and also as an Adjunct Professor. During her time at State Tech she earned her Associates Degree.
She was a longtime member of Wells Station Baptist Church where she spent many years working as a Sunday School teacher in the Children and Youth Departments. She had a deep passion for working with children and youth, guiding them in their faith, teaching them about Jesus and helping them grow spiritually.
Her laughter was contagious, and her sharp wit made her a delight to be around. She had a natural gift for making friends and connecting with people from all walks of life.
While our hearts are heavy with the sorrow of her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering and is now at peace in Heaven surrounded by God’s love and her many loved ones that have gone before her.
