

Ken was born on August 29, 1951, to Robert and Billie (Wiles) Marquis in Memphis, Tennessee. Ken was always a bright and curious young man. He attended school in Memphis graduating from Kingsbury HS in 1969. He went on to attend Tennessee College of Applied Technology where he earned an associate’s degree in Electronics. A local Copy Machine company quickly hired him. Later in his career, he started his own Repair and Supply service for Office Copy Machines. He operated that business for many years before choosing to work for a local company for the remainder of his working career.
On November 17, 1972, Ken was united in Marriage to Susan Crowder in Memphis. They were blessed with two children: Jennifer and Kenneth Jr. Ken and Susan were divorced in 1996 but remained amicable friends.
Ken lived an active lifestyle. As a young man he was very active in scouting achieving the coveted rank of Eagle Scout. He was a history buff and in his spare time searched for little known areas of Civil War action. When he had permission, he would use a metal detector to find various hidden artifacts. He enjoyed motorcycling and owned several motorcycles throughout his lifetime. He taught himself to play the guitar and became a decent musician. He was often asked to join various Jam Sessions with friends and family who also had the gift of music. He gave his life to Christ in the late 90s and was passionate about learning the Bible. At one point he memorized the entire book of the Gospel of Matthew.
Ken leaves behind his ex-wife Susan Marquis, his children Jennifer Valera and Kenneth Marquis Jr, a Grandson Nitai Valera, his brother Daniel Marquis of Ozark, Missouri and various cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Billie Marquis and his older brother Robert Marquis Jr.
Life is made up of good times and bad times. Ken will be remembered for his life and will be sorely missed by all that loved him.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday May 2nd at 3:00pm at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38133.
