I love you Rane Rane, no matter how much time passes I will never forget you :) Last week was rough...to say the least, but we made it, and I know that even when I'm feeling my worst you are by my side. You are my amazing guardian angel and I love you always :)

I haven't seen you in years, so when did you start going by "Rane"?  Cute; I like it.  Just from reading your entries on this site, I can tell that Valerie, and especially Larry (and quite understandable since you two were twins), are still having difficulty with your leaving us.  I truly  hope that you will send them a message and let them both know that they can move on with their lives and that you are okay where you are.  Yes, I still care for Larry in many ways, and I truly hate to see him like this.

Hey Rane, it's been 17 weeks yesterday and I miss you so much. I think about you every day.

I love you Rane, and you are never far from my mind.  I think about you all the time and how much you loved life and all of your family.  I have been trying so hard to live my life in your honor since you went to heaven.  Anytime I start to get in a bad mood, or start to have mean thoughts in my heart I remember what you were like and how you never let mean or unkind things rule you.  You looked for the best in everyone and everything, if I can be half the woman you were I will be happy!!! I love you and I know you are taking care of us, thank you for being a part of my life :)

Hi Lorane it's been 2 weeks today at 8:45 I was reading the recipies in today's paper at 8:45 pm and guess what the recipe was, ready it was an EARTHQUAKE CAKE and I just had to chuckle. We miss you and love you girl tell Mom,Dad and Tommy HI. Your twin forever Larry.

It's been two weeks since you left us Rane Rane and everyday without you is a struggle.  I hope you know how much we love and miss you down here.  Please continue to watch over us and keep us strong. I love you so much!!!

Geez, girl, where do I start?  We spoke not too long ago and you sounded happy, as usual.  I don't think I ever saw you not smiling.  Yes, you loved your animals, especially those kitties.  I will not waste time repeating all the great things that everyone else has already said here  about ya, but you knew that you were the only sister I ever really had and you were just so darn precious - to everyone.  I remember when Larry and I married in 1970, you told me that I had better take good care of your twin brother or you would beat me up!  I'm sure you would have, too!!!!  You socked me in the arm enough times during football games!  I am so honored to have known you for the last 40 years of our lives.  Tell your Mom, Dad, and Tommy hello and we all miss ya'll.

This is the letter I read to Aunt Rane at the funeral, I know those of you who knew her will appreciate it :)


Dear Rane Rane,
 I have been putting this off for some time now, and honestly it's still not something I want to do.  But I know in my heart that this is the best way for me to get out all the things I want to say.  First, I want you to know that losing you isn't just a niece losing her aunt.  It's a girl losing her mother, sister, best friend, and aunt all at once.  Having you in my life, especially in my young impressionable days, has without a doubt made me a better person.  You taught me so many things, from how to make cinnamon toast, to washing my hair in the shower all by myself, you taught me that skittles are the best candy ever made and that you can build a fort out of almost anything. You taught me that material possessions don't mean a thing if you don't have family.  You always put your family first no matter what.  Whether it was by taking care of your amazing parents until their passing, or by cooking dinner for all of us every sunday.  I know without a doubt that you would have given the shirt off your back for anyone who was in need.  But more than the lessons you taught me, you gave me some of the best memories I have, and I know that I am not alone in that department.  Over the past week I have sat around with numerous family members reminiscing about all the fun times we had with you.  And most of those conversations lasted quite sometime.  My favorite memories with you would have to be the time I was spending the night with you when I was about five or six and I had a little accident in your bed and instead of making me get up and change the sheets and all that nonsense you simply turned me sideways at the foot of the bed and we slept sideways together...which wasn't that difficult considering we are slightly height challenged.  I will also never forget all the work trips you took me on to Nashville, I always loved the you and me time we spent together, and building mini forts in the backseat of the Cadillac.  You always had a stock of skittles and those white cheddar popcorn bags for us.  On one trip we were getting ready to go to dinner and I noticed that there were commercials on the TV and you sat down with me because you knew I liked to watch the commercials.  But most importantly I will never get the bond you had with my father.  Daddy has always been and always will be the number one man in my life, and I know first hand just how much you meant to him.  We all know how daddy is about his girls and you were his original girl, I hope you know how truly honored I am that I got to be a part of your birthdays for the past 24 years, and I can assure you that just because your time on Earth with us is over, you will still be celebrated every year as long as I have something to do with it :) Lastly, I came up with a list of words that I think describe you the best: beautiful (inside and out), caring, supportive, hilarious, master chef and cake baker, animal lover, kind, thoughtful, strong, but most importantly selfless.  You never wanted to worry other people with the things going on in your life because you didn't want to be a bother, but I hope you realize now that you were NEVER EVER a bother, and that you had so much love around you and there isn't a thing that we wouldn't have done for you.  This last week has been trying on all of us and I hope that I was able to make your last few days here as pleasant as possible, I know you hated that stupid tube and I know you are so happy its gone now.  I felt a lot of anger and guilt when I received the phone call wednesday morning that I needed to get to the hospital, because less than 24 hours before I was explaining to you what was wrong and why you had been intubated, but I promised you that you would be OK.  And finally tonight it hit me that I was actually telling you the truth, you are OK, you're in heaven now with your mommy and daddy and big brother and countless other people who have been waiting to see that beautiful smile.  I can see uncle Tommy now jumping out with some silly string or something to get you.  I know that one day I will see you again and we will sit down with some velvetta and beef tips and noodles.  I'm never going to be the same without you and I will never forget you.

Aunt Rane,

I will always remember Sunday dinners at your house. There was always laughter and lots of pranks mostly done by Scott. The two of you definitely knew how to keep each other going. A memory that will last with me forever is every Thanksgiving we would play piano roles and one of the very first songs we always played was Must Be Santa. I will make sure to sing it every year for Christmas and to sing it the loudest. I have so many memories of you and they will stay with me (like hanging upside down on the bar with Valerie or rolling the balls back and forth on the pool table so hard I would smash my fingers or hunting Easter eggs in the backyard for Easter or Valerie and I catching fire flies). You were such an amazing lady and I will miss you so very much. I love you with all my heart and I hope you are having a great time with  Grandma, Grandpa and uncle Tommy.

Throughout high school and beyond, you were a wonderful friend to both of us.  We will always remember your laugh, your voice and all the kindnesses you extended, often to those you barely knew.  Despite their lack of sight, you always had a close relationship with your parents and they, in turn, always had a close relationship with your friends.  All of us felt as though we always belonged in  your family and just knowing you made us better persons. Now that you are gone, we will miss you but we will always love you.
