LoRENE M. TAYLOR, 87, passed away at her home in Memphis on April 20, 2013 after a brief illness. LoRene was a tiny woman with a huge ability to empower the lives of those around her. Born in Greeley, CO. she was raised in Los Angeles, CA by her aunt and uncle, Lucille and Roland Morris, when her mother died shortly after her birth. At the end of World War II, LoRene married Jack G. Taylor of Jackson, TN and eventually they relocated to Memphis, TN. It was in Memphis that LoRene demonstrated, as writer Diane Mariechild once said, “A woman is full circle...within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.” As a full circle woman, LoRene helped her husband, Jack, create, nurture and transform a fledgling food brokerage business, Taylor & Greer, Inc., into a highly successful regional manufacturer’s respresentative enterprise. As a full circle woman, LoRene helped her two sons create, nurture and transform themselves into highly successful career professionals: christopher as an advertising/marketing communications executive and then as a college instructor, and Jack, Jr. as a television/movie production designer-art director. As a full circule woman, LoRene helped create, nurture and transform the lives of those in her community into better ones through her work in the Women’s Missionary Union chapter at The First Baptist Church of Memphis, TN. As a full circle woman, LeRene left us far better than she found us. Her love and her power will be greatly missed. LoRene Taylor is survived by her husband, Jack G. Taylor, Sr., Memphis, TN; her sons, Christopher Taylor (Ingrid) of Olive Branch, MS and Jack G. Taylor, Jr. of Glendale, CA; her sister, Belva Dicarlos of Santa Clara, CA; her brother, Daryl Hafling (Karen) of Denver, CO; and her caretaker, Pat Sallis of Memphis, TN. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 26 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on N. Germantown Parkway with visitation preceding the services starting at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memoirals should be made to either The First Baptist Church of Memphis, 200 East Parkway North, Memphis, TN 38112 or Forever Young (Honoring World War II Veterans), P.O. Box 1381, Collierville, TN 38027. Online condolences may be made at www.memphisfuneralhome.net Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens 3700 N. Germantown Rd. 901-725-0100
