

Lorrie DeGraffenreid Tubbs died peacefully on April 30, 2016. She was born September 29, 1938 in Joplin, MO. She met her best friend and soulmate, Tommy Tubbs, in Eldorado, KS, and after lying about their age, eloped and married in Newkirk, OK on July 13, 1957. After enjoying 11 years as a mother and housewife, she returned to college at Memphis State University earning both a BA and MA in education. She was an educator and an administrator with the Memphis City Schools system for 28 years. After retiring, she started a small business crafting jewelry and decorative items. She combined her love of teaching and creativity to help her friends learn the art of jewelry making. She was a faithful member of Grace Crossing Church in Collierville, TN. She is survived by her husband, Tommy Tubbs; daughters Toni Durham and Tiffani Kaliko; and adored grandsons Eddie Harris and William Walker. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2016 and a funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2016 both at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., Bartlett with the interment to follow at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh LaGrange Rd, Memphis.
