

Lucy Sonderman Williams, 95, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on June 30, 2016. Mrs. Williams was the loving wife of Mr. Reece Williams for 74 years before his passing in 2014. She was retired from the City of Memphis Park Commission where she worked as a secretary for 25 years. Prior to her time with the park commission, she was one of the first female uniformed police officers in the City of Memphis. Mrs. Williams loved to bowl and won several gold medals in the Senior Olympics over a span of ten years. She rejoins her siblings Rosebud Pittman, Faye Bomprezzi, Nell Roy, Archie Sonderman, and CJ Sonderman, who preceded her in passing. She also rejoins her loving daughter, Patricia Avent. She is survived by her son, Tolbert Williams (Sharon), her sisters, Martha Dell Woodruff and Debetry Mitchell, her brothers, Perry Sonderman, David Sonderman, and Algie Sonderman. She also leaves her granddaughters, Lynette Smith (Larry), Christine Herrman (John), and Sara Williams, her great-grandchildren, Shiler, Andrew, Landon, Thomas, and Rebekah, as well as her great-great-granddaughter, Braylie. Funeral services will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Road, Bartlett on Saturday, July 2 at ten o’clock in the morning.
