Marilyn Lee Zlotky Carlton, 83, of Memphis, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2013. She retired as Assistant to the Dean of Communication and Fine Art at the University of Memphis, was a longtime member and vocal soloist at Idlewild Presbyterian Church and was a member of NARAS. Along with her vocal talent, she sang the lead role in the opera Mignon and was a mezzo-soprano finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Auditions. She was also active with the Greyhound Adoption Society. Ms Carlton is survived by her three sons, Kenny (Melissa) Carlton of Arlington, TN, Geoff (Rachel) Carlton of Houston, TX and Rick (Kim) Carlton, also of Arlington; a brother, Donald Zlotky of Murphreesboro, TN; a sister in law, Emily Melonis of Las Angeles, CA; and eleven grandchildren. Family and friends will gather from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday evening, August 6 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. A celebration of life service will be on Wednesday, August 7 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow in Memorial Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made to the Greyhound Adoption Society.
