Martha Jane Edwards

Martha was born February 26, 1932, in Alamo, TN to the late Johnnie Shurden and Dorthy Tatum Shurden. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter E. Edwards, her sister Dona June Marbry, and her brother-in-law Leonard T. Marbry Jr.

She is survived by two sons, Steve (Jennifer) Edwards and Louis (Suzanne) Edwards; five grandchildren, Jeff (Habeeb) Edwards, Paige Hart, Nicholas (Megan) Edwards, Clay (Ginger) Collett, Danny (Devin) Collett; seven great grandchildren, Haley Edwards, Dexter Hart, Paisley Hart, Codi Collett, Cara Collett Frost, Clark Collett, and Jimma Collett;a great great grandchild Hezekiah Frost; a very special nephew Tommy (Judy) Marbry, and a very special neice Tonya (Tommy) Mcgrory.

Mrs Edwards held several clerical position during her lifetime, including leading the administrative printing department at Southwestern (now Rhodes) University. Even though she worked outside the home, her real passion was her home and family. She loved working in her garden, and sitting on her deck watching the hummingbirds gather around the feeders she put out for them.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025 @2pm (visitation 1-2pm), at Memphis Funeral Home 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN. Graveside service immediately following at Memphis Memory Gardens.
