Mary Ann Helton Bledsoe, 75, of Bartlett, TN left her failing body behind and her soul soared to heaven on February 3, 2016 at Ave Maria Home. She died from COPD. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Hugh O. Helton and her second husband, W. Steve Bledsoe, Sr. DDS who treated her like a queen, and her only granddaughter, Scarlet Lawrence Akins, who was the love of her life. Over the last few years her health had deteriorated to where she had to sell her home and leave her wonderful friends and neighbors in Trafalgar Village. She found a new set of friends at her new home, Ave Maria. She was so proud of her apartment and loved playing Farkle. When not playing games, she loved the Hallmark Channel, American Idol, and Dancing with the Stars. She grew up in Gainesville, GA and moved to Memphis in 1969. In her younger days she was active in the Eastern Star, loved traveling out west, and back to GA to visit with family and friends. She loved shopping, gardening, eating at “great restaurants” like Red Lobster, Taco Bell, and Burger King. She also loved birds, gardening, coffee, and Nicorette Gum! Momma or Nana, as she was lovingly known was a classic southern lady, had a kind and loving spirit. She worked hard her whole life, and did all she could to help her family, she loved to laugh and tell a joke. She especially loved to tell stories about her family. She leaves behind her only child, Cheryl Lawrence-Moore (Vann) of Collierville, grandsons: Reese T. Lawrence of Memphis, V. Davis Moore, II of Horn Lake, MS and a great-granddaughter, Madison Grace Akins. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 5th at 2 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N. Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN. In addition to flowers, please make a donation to the Scarlet Lawrence Akins Foundation, dedicated to melanoma research, 4669 Fleming Rd, Collierville, TN 38017.
