Mary Joceil Maness Pryor, 88, of Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday July 24, 2024. She was born in Henderson County, Sardis, Tennessee, the daughter of Ervin and Zula Maness. Known by all as Joceil, she moved to Memphis with her late husband, Kenneth, where they worked and raised their family of three children. Joceil worked for Equitable life, retiring in 1998. She then went on to work for The Barnett Group, where she would remain until her final retirement in 2018.
Joceil was a long time member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church where she leaves many friends and cherished memories. She was also a member of the Disciples Sunday School Class. In her free time, she could be found tending to her flowers, volunteering her time at church, or spending time with her loving family. Her world revolved around her family, and her home was the center of holidays and celebrations alike for decades. Her refrigerator door was always full of precious memories and artwork from her grands and great-grands.
Joceil leaves three children: two daughters, Pamela Raffles (Andy) of Brighton, TN, Renee Clark (Bill) of Olive Branch, MS and a son, Keith Pryor (Shannon) of Olive Branch, MS. She leaves four grandchildren - Christy Parkey, Jerry Parkey, Ryne Clark (Christen) and Tucker Pryor as well as three great grandsons - Cody Yarbrough, Ethan Stewart, and Knox Clark. She leaves two sisters, Helen Mullins and Linda Holyfield, as well as a brother, Bill Maness. Joceil also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends who she cherished dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Pryor, her sister Lois Murphy, and her parents.
Family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Monday, July 29 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Garden, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. Services will be at 2:00pm on Tuesday, July 30 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Garden, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN.
