Melva Naile Mitchell, 84, of Jackson, TN passed away on January 17, 2026 after a brave 7-month battle with cancer. Melva is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George “Sonny” Mitchell. She is survived by her loving children Ron Mitchell of Pensacola, FL, Lisa McGahuey of Jackson, TN, son-in-law Brad McGahuey, grandsons Bryan Norcross, Joshua Mitchell, and Jacob Mitchell, great-grandchildren Gage and Enola Norcross, and many extended family members and friends. A celebration of life will be announced soon to be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Bartlett, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
