He graduated in 1947 from Glendale High School in Glen, MS, where he was a member of the basketball team. He went into the AirForce as a airplane mechanic at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada during the Korean War. While serving in Las Vegas he was a member of the Air Force softball team,where he pitched a no hitter. After being discharged in 1951. He returned to Memphis where he and a high school friend reunited while driving a city bus. Joyce Cox stepped back into his life and they were married in 1953, until she passed away in 2017. He retired from Greyhound Bus Line in 1986. After retiring he went back to work at the Air National Guard carpentry shop for ten years. After permanently retiring he enjoyed gardening, his yard work, and helping neighbors and friends.
He was a member of Ellendale Baptist Church since the 1960's. He served as a Deacon, worked with the Youth, and served on the Bevelance committee. For a brief time he was a member of The Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents Napolean and Edna Gober Hardwick, his wife, Joyce Cox Hardwick, his brothers, Gober, Bartow, and WT Hardwick, and niece, Brenda Smitherman.
Milton is survived by his daughter, Myra Hardwick, nephew, Danny Hardwick, nieces, Jan Turner, Judy Hallmark, Denise Patton, and several great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friend Friday July 8, 2022 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Rd. Bartlett, TN 38133, from 9:00 Am until 10:00 AM. A celebration of Life Service will follow in the chapel of Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Rd. Bartlett, TN 38133. a Committal service will follow at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd Memphis, TN 38134.
