Mitch "Mitchie" Meier, aged 64, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on November 8, 2024. Born on April 5, 1960, in Millington, Tennessee, Mitch lived a life of devotion to his family, his faith, and his community.
Mitch's career in the automotive industry was both long and distinguished. Over the years, he was a familiar face at Gossett Motors, Wolf River Motors, Victory Auto, Triumph Auto, Arlington Motors, City Auto, and even found time to enjoy the greens at Windyke Country Club. His professional life was characterized by a deep commitment to excellence and service.
A devout Christian, Mitch began his spiritual journey at St. Timothy United Methodist Church and deepened his faith at Hope Church. His dedication extended beyond regular worship as he actively participated in delivering snacks to Oasis of Hope and serving children at Place of Hope in Haiti.
Mitchie's hobbies were as vibrant and varied as his personality. An avid golfer, he cherished traveling with his wife Laurie, enjoyed horse racing, and was a fervent supporter of Memphis Tigers and Memphis Grizzlies basketball teams. His life was filled with friendly bets with buddies, days at the lake or beach, and he even found joy in picking up the occasional hitchhiker. Family was central to Mitchie’s life, evident in his daily texts with his grandson Coley and the special Donut Fridays with his grandchildren Miki and Benny.
Mitchie leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Laurie, his children Jamie and Josh Mays, and Josh and Kristin Meier. He was a cherished grandfather to Colton (Coley), Michaela (Miki), and Benjamin (Benny). He is also survived by his siblings Mike Meier (Tracey), Tammi Ware, Tom Meier, and Karl Meier (Jennifer), as well as his father and mother-in-law, Ed and Doris Steele. His life was enriched by a vast circle of friends and "framily."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Marlene Meier, and his brother-in-law, Kevin Ware.
