Murrell E. “Jimmy” Matlock, Sr., 87, of Bartlett, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011. He was a graduate of South Side High School, Veteran of The US Army WWII European Theater, and retired from South Central Bell (Telecom Pioneers). He was also a member of the Masonic Desoto Lodge and 32nd degree Scottish Rite, member of the Al Chymia Shrine Temple, Emeritus Member of The Legion of Honor, and Commandant Emeritus. He leaves his wife, Joyce Holland Matlock; his children, Sandi White, Tony Sarg, Murrell E. “Eddie” Matlock JR.; and Sister Linda J. Maranise, all of the Memphis area; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services and interment will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 2 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown rd. Visitation will begin at 9:30.
