

Peggie R. Weir, 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, September 26 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was known for her love of family, friends and her Catholic faith. Peggie Sue was born on September 14, 1934. One of five children born to Conon and Roxie Roberson. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, three of her brothers; Conon, Bobby and JB and her loving husband, Ray. She is survived by one remaining sibling, Ray Roberson and her three children; Scott Steward (Cynthia), Denise Weir and Elise Weir. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Caylee Steward and Chad Steward. Peggie Sue attended Central High School and Memphis State University. She worked in the corporate world for International Harvester Company, Business Service Industries, Inc. and Pepsico Food Services. She also served in many civic and volunteer organizations; Duration Club, Maternal Welfare League, Stage Set, Saint Louis Catholic Church and Alter Guild. She was a Phi Mu Sorority Chapter Adviser for 30 years at the University of Memphis where she also served on the Panhellenic Council for 15 years. She was a Phi Mu Alumnae President, Outstanding Woman of the Year, Outstanding Adviser, Outstanding Alumnae in both the Greek and Panhellenic systems and National Outstanding Adviser. Visitation will begin at 9:00 on Friday, September 30 at St Louis Catholic Church, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., has charge. The family requests that all donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, St. Louis Catholic Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
