Porter “Randy” Randolph Dinwiddie, age 74, of Bartlett, Tennessee, loving father, grandfather, and friend passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020. Randy was born April 22, 1946 Paris, TN, to the late Porter and Evelyn Dinwiddie. He was a graduate of Westside High School in Memphis Tennessee in May, 1964. He played halfback for the Westside High Wildcats. He attended the University of Memphis and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in May of 1968. Randy went on to earn a Master’s in Business Administration in May of 1969. While earning his degrees he was a member of the ROTC.
Randy entered the USAF on August 18, 1969, served in Vietnam, received The Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal and Commendation Medal, as well as other several additional awards during his distinguished service. He served in active duty for 21 years retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel on August 31, 1990. After serving in the Air Force, he worked at St. Jude Children’s Hospital as a compensation manager. He worked at Methodist Hospital in Human Resources and Compensation, and he retired from Fed Ex as a compensation analyst.
Randy was a member of Bartlett United Methodist Church and served as an usher. He enjoyed his patio, his beloved pets and the Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Volunteers. He even pretended to be a Razorback fan for his daughter, Joy. He enjoyed running in his younger years and competed in several 5 and 10K races and a half marathon. Randy was very active and enjoyed his walks in the neighborhood and interacting with his lovely neighbors. He also enjoyed taking the occasional trip to Maumelle to watch his grandsons play soccer and celebrate the holidays.
Randy frequently visited London, Scotland, and Ireland. He enjoyed following the Royal family and the historical monuments and museums.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Porter and Evelyn Dinwiddie. He is survived by his daughter, Joy Wilcox (Brent), two grandsons, Chase and Brandon, and a brother, Richard Dinwiddie (Natalie).
The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until service time at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Bartlett United Methodist Church, 5676 Stage Rd, Bartlett, TN 38134, with interment to follow in Bartlett-Ellendale Cemetery.
