Raul Gutierrez Rodriguez

Raul was born in Edinburg, TX to parents Raul & Florencia Rodriguez on August 3, 1954. As a boy he enjoyed target practice and shooting rifles. After graduating from high school in 1973 in Livingston, CA he immediately began serving his country in the United States Army where he specialized in communication for four years. He later went on to work at Nike for 24 years.

He met his wife Elvira Rodriguez in 2000 while in California. He admirably welcomed not only the love of his life into his heart but also two bonus children. Raul and Elvira went on to share 24 years of marriage along with three children of their own. His career with Nike brought them to Memphis, TN is 2008.

All who knew him knew his love for being outdoors. He enjoyed spending his time watching and feeding the birds in his garden. Raul famously produced the most delicious tomatoes, cucumbers, and a variety of hot peppers including chilies and ghost peppers from his home garden. Although he never learned to play himself, Raul appreciated music and especially adored the accordion.

Raul is preceded in death by his parents Raul & Florencia Rodriguez, brother Rolando Rodriguez, and sister Rebecca Willoughby. He is survived by his loving wife, Elvira, children Lucia Lopez, Jose Lopez, Florencia Rodriguez, Raul Rolando Rodriguez, and Alixyveth Rodriguez. He also leaves behind siblings Raquel Gutierrez, Rosa Rodriguez (Mark), Rene Rodriguez (Diana), Robert Rodriguez, and Romelia Wiley (Tom).

Family will receive friends from 6:00PM -8:00PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN, 38133 on Monday, May 20th. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, May 21st at 10:30AM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 8151 Chimneyrock Blvd, Cordova, TN, 38016. Burial will be held at a later date.

Raul Gutierrez Rodriguez will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know him. The family appreciates the outpouring of support during this difficult time.

Raúl Gutiérrez Rodríguez, de 69 años, de Germantown, Tennessee, falleció el miércoles 15 de mayo de 2024.

Raúl nació en Edinburg, TX de padres Raúl y Florencia Rodríguez el 3 de agosto de 1954. Cuando era niño, disfrutaba de las prácticas de tiro y disparar rifles. Después de graduarse de la escuela secundaria en 1973 en Livingston, CA, inmediatamente comenzó a servir a su país en el ejército de los Estados Unidos, donde se especializó en comunicación durante cuatro años. Posteriormente trabajó en Nike durante 24 años.

Conoció a su esposa Elvira Rodríguez en el año 2000 mientras estaba en California. Admirablemente acogió en su corazón no sólo al amor de su vida, sino también a dos hijos extra. Raúl y Elvira compartieron 24 años de matrimonio junto con tres hijos propios. Su carrera con Nike los llevó a Memphis, TN, en 2008.

Todos los que lo conocieron sabían su amor por estar al aire libre. Le gustaba pasar su tiempo observando y alimentando a los pájaros en su jardín. Raúl produjo los más deliciosos tomates, pepinos y una variedad de pimientos picantes, incluidos chiles y pimientos fantasma, del huerto de su casa. Aunque nunca aprendió a tocar por sí mismo, Raúl apreciaba la música y adoraba especialmente el acordeón.

A Raúl le precedieron en la muerte sus padres Raúl y Florencia Rodríguez, su hermano Rolando Rodríguez y su hermana Rebecca Willoughby. Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Elvira, sus hijos Lucía López, José López, Florencia Rodríguez, Raúl Rolando Rodríguez y Alixyveth Rodríguez. También deja atrás a sus hermanos Raquel Gutiérrez, Rosa Rodríguez (Mark), René Rodríguez (Diana), Robert Rodríguez y Romelia Wiley (Tom).

La familia recibirá amigos de 6:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m. en Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN, 38133 el lunes 20 de mayo. La misa de funeral será el martes 21 de mayo a las 10:30 a. m. en la iglesia católica St. Francis of Assisi, 8151 Chimneyrock Blvd, Cordova, TN, 38016. El entierro se llevará a cabo en una fecha posterior.
