Ray Elliott Owen, Sr.

Ray Elliott Owen, Sr., 80, of Cordova, TN passed away on December 2, 2014. Mr. Owen was born in Memphis, TN to Charles and Addie Owen. He grew up in and served as a deacon at Highland Heights Baptist where he was a member for 65 years; more recently he attended Bellevue where he was an usher and a member of the close knit Sunday School class of Mr. Don Rodgers. Mr. Owen was an avid golfer, fisherman, and sports fan. Mr. Owen was a retired technician from BellSouth/AT&T and also served in the US Army. Mr. Owen was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bobby Dale Owen. He is survived by many family and friends whom he loved dearly: his wife, Sarah Joyce Doyle Owen; his sons, Ray Owen, Jr. (Sherry) of Pearland, TX and Donnie Owen (Jennifer) of Whiteville, TN; his brother, Charlie “Butch” Owen (Monte); his sister-in-law, Carolyn Owen; and his grandchildren, Ray E. “Trip” Owen, III (Sarina) of Santa Monica, CA, Donnie Wayne Owen, Jr. (Abigail) of Whiteville, TN, and Niki Anderson (Kirk) of Pearland, TX; and his great-grandchildren, Owen, Adalyn, Anders, Wesley, Sidney Ray, Sonny, and Benjamin. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, December 6 from 12:00 – 2:00 with a funeral service at 2:00 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Rd., Bartlett, TN. Memorial contributions may be sent to Bellevue Baptist Church or The Alzheimer’s Association.
