Reece Leon Smith

Reece Leon Smith, 82, of Arlington, TN passed away on September 21, 2014. Mr. Smith was born on April 26, 1932 in Memphis, TN. He was a graduate of Whitehaven High School and attended Memphis State University for three years. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean conflict. He was retired from Commonwealth Insurance Company and was an Elder and choir member in the First Presbyterian Church of Paris, TN and formerly a longtime member of Macon Road Presbyterian Church in Memphis, TN. He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia K. Miller of Millington, TN, two sons, Mark B. Smith (Linda) of Arlington, TN and Patrick W. Terry (Tracey) of Bartlett, TN. He also leaves a sister, Nancy S. Hunt (Robert) of Jackson, TN. Mr. Smith was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: Jason A. Smith, Audrey R. Smith, Nick J. Thompson, Matt A. Thompson, Ashton G. Terry, Carter R. Terry, and Ryan G. Terry. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Samantha A. Smith, Paisley K. Thompson, Aldon J. Thompson, and Chance A. Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey E. and Irene Smith, and his brother, Edward H. Smith. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 23 from 5-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 24 at the funeral home.
