Robert Owen Armstrong, 83, of Oakland, TN passed away January 20, 2017. He was a graduate of Vanderbilt University, University of Memphis and University of Georgia where he received his Doctorate of Education in Math, retired math professor at State Tech, veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church-Oakland. Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Jane Armstrong; parents, Owen and Eleanor Armstrong; and sister, Nora Carpenter. He is survived by his sons, David Armstrong of Nashville and Ken Armstrong of Memphis. The family will receive friends beginning at12:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2017 with a graveside service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N.
