Rodney Lyn Smith

Rodney Lyn Smith, age 60, went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2020. He was born March 6, 1960 in Memphis, TN to Bill and Shirley Smith. He was an active member of Ellendale Baptist Church where he met and married his wife Susie Owens Smith. Rodney was a man after God's own heart, a Lt. on the Shelby County Fire Department and also worked as a heating and air conditioning contractor.

Rodney leaves his wife, Susie, and children Ashley Smith, Kristy Smith, Amy Tackett and Drew (Erica) Douglass and his grandchildren Mackenzie, Brianna, Chelsea, Anniston and Gunnar. He also leaves his mother Shirley, brother Craig (Amy) and sister Kim (Chris).

Rodney loved to travel, go camping and share Jesus. He loved helping people. He made everyone laugh and never met a stranger. Micah 6:8

The family will receive friends Friday, March 13, from 5-7pm at Ellendale Baptist Church and the funeral will be held Saturday, March 14,at 10am at Ellendale Baptist Church.
