

SHELBY BERRY HOWELL, 77, of Southaven, MS, formerly of Memphis, TN went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, May 2, 2014. She was a Christian as well as a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 57 years, Richard “Dick” Howell, daughters, Debbie (Craig) Mathews of Mobile, AL, Donna (Mark) Weber of Cordova, TN, son, Richard D. Howell, II (Renee) of Nesbit, MS. Grandchildren are Benjamin (Kristin) Cash of Loxley, AL, Brandon (fiance' Caroline Gabriel) Mathews and Blake Mathews of Mobile, AL. Katie Weber (fiance’ Andy Ballard) of Arlington, TN, and Mary Beth Weber of Cordova, TN, Samantha (Bobby) Hixson of Yuma, AZ, Trey and Hunter Anne Howell of Nesbit, MS, Dylan Baskins of Honolulu, HI. Great-grandchildren are Carter and Cooper Cash of Loxley, AL and Marliegh Rae and Maysen Hixson of Yuma, AZ. All were the apples of her eye and the greatest joys of her life. She also leaves a sister, Bobbie Nell Soelberg of Kaysvill, UT. She was predeceased by her parents Carrie Mae and “Doc” Berry of Sledge, MS as well as eight sisters and three brothers. Shelby retired in the late-eighties from Sears Service Department, Broad Street location and became an avid flower gardener, baker, homemaker, bowler, and loved being a Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was a huge fan of U of M basketball and football, Ole Miss football, The Grizzlies, Alabama football, Elvis, country music, playing cards and was the family champ at Yahtzee! But, mostly, she loved spending time with her husband and family and friends. Her passing will leave a huge hole in all of their lives. Shelby spent the last five and a half years of her life as a Kidney dialysis patient a Fresenius Dialysis Center in Southaven, MS where the staff and other patients became a loving part of her weekly life and were like family to her. The Howell Family would like to thank the many caring doctors, nurses and staff that cared for her during the last days of her life on this earth at Baptist Desoto Hospital. Funeral services will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., Bartlett, TN, Tuesday, May 6.
