Sylvia Jean Caudle of Memphis, Tennessee was born the youngest of seven children in Shannon, Mississippi on November 18, 1940 to William Rivers Jinkins Jr. and Ruby Lee Rackley-Jinkins. She passed away peacefully at home on December 7, 2022 at the age of 82 after a battle with cancer.
Sylvia worked from the time she left home until the ripe age of 79 when she retired from Walmart after 28 years. She was a strong, God-fearing woman who attended church every Sunday and Wednesday. She would drive to every corner of town to pick up her grandkids to bring them with her to church. Sylvia loved to volunteer at church, sing in the choir, work crossword puzzles, listen to hymns and gospel songs, and she loved to spend time with her family.
Sylvia was a fierce defender of those she loved - small but mighty. She was the embodiment of love, resilience, forgiveness, and generosity. Sylvia always saw the good in others. She gave freely and never asked for anything in return.
She is preceded in death by husband, George Clifford Caudle Sr., and survived by her sister, Pauline Mallory, four sons- Cliff (Vicki), Jeffrey (Barbara), Jerry (Brandy), Steven (Bobbie), grandchildren: Jeffrey Jr., Stephani, Daniel, Amanda, Ashley, Lauren, Amber, Joshua, Shelby, Sean, Kelsey, Chelsea, Kaitlynn, Steven Jr., Kaylynn, Alexis, and Kylie. Great-grandchildren: Cooper, Cameron, Logan, Levi
Momma, Mammaw Sylvia… you took a piece of our hearts with you when you left us. You are dearly loved, sorely missed, and forever cherished. We know Jesus welcomed you, His faithful servant, with open arms. Praise God for 82 years of precious memories, joy, and laughter with you. We’ll meet again some bright, sunny day. “The thought that makes me smile now, even as the tears fall down, is that the only scars in Heaven are on the hands that hold you now.”
