Sylvia "Wynona" Murray

July 3, 1941 – January 1, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wynona Murray on January 1, 2025, at the age of 83. Wynona was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who touched countless lives with her warmth and kindness. She never met a stranger or a baby she didn’t love, and her greatest joys were making things and making people smile.

Wynona was born on July 3, 1941, in Paragould, Arkansas, to Ray and Irene Higgins. In 1962, Wynona met her devoted husband, Dewey Murray, at Getwell Church of Christ. They were married for 61 wonderful years. They dated, married, and raised their family at Getwell attending faithfully until it closed in October 2022. They found their new church home at Quail Ridge Church of Christ.

Wynona is survived by her daughters, Penny Templeton (husband Greg) and Donna Hankins (husband Neil). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Lane Templeton and Braxton Templeton, who brought her immense joy. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Little Bit.

The family will receive friends and loved ones at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Germantown Parkway on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m.
