Thomas W. Moore, 75, passed on May 15, 2022. Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Tom called many places home before settling in Collierville, Tennessee, with his family. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force to serve his country during the Vietnam War. His years in the military determined his career path, as he later became an aircraft mechanic for Continental and FedEx.
Tom’s greatest and enduring loves were his children, David and Kim…and car racing. Perhaps his highest accomplishment was to impress upon his children and companions his good humor, benevolence, ease with strangers, and an attitude of grace and acceptance of whatever life and fate threw his way. But back to the cars: he traveled far and wide throughout his life to see Formula 1, NASCAR, or even just the dirt track races across the river in Arkansas. The thrill of the race was something he loved all his life, and he shared his enthusiasm with everyone he knew.
Preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Caldwell Moore and Eileen Elizabeth Fletcher and brothers Paul, James and Charles.
Tom is survived by his son, David (Phoebe) Moore, daughter, Kimberly (Jeff) Howell, brothers Mike (Anna) John (Corinne), and Jerry (Gail) Moore, and grandchildren Vivienne and T’eo Howell.
The family will be having a private celebration of life. For those wishing to honor his life they can donate to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
