Chris was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on October 3, 1952. On February 28, 2022, at the age of 69, he passed away to be with Our Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Lankford.
Chris Moved to Memphis after graduating from Hot Springs High School in 1971 where he had the opportunity to go to work for a new start-up company called Federal Express. He quickly moved into management in Ground Support, where he remained for 25 years. He then worked for Ground Support Specialties in Horn Lake, Mississippi for 5 years as the Service Manager before embarking on 5 years of building custom homes.
After his retirement he continued his lifelong love for bass fishing, going to the beach with his family, and going on Caribbean cruises with his wife and friends. Chris also loved taking family and friends for boat rides and really enjoyed life on the lake.
Chris leaves his loving wife and best friend, Phyllis, his children, Hillary Sanford (Andrew), Robbie Bennie (Brook), his stepchildren, Heather Daniels (Josh), Justin Colley (Ashley), and his dear mother-in-law Opal Dees.
Chris was known as "Pop" to his wonderful grandchildren, Hawkins, Bayler, Lucas, Skyy, Trent, Cooper, Hayes, Peyton, Claire, and Jack.
A gathering of family and friends for Chris will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM in the Chapel.
