Betty J. Richards

Betty J. Richards, 87, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 5, 1929 in Peoria, Illinois to Earl H. and Beatrice (Williams) Mohn Sr. She married Harold E. “Buck” Richards on August 7, 1948 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1987 in Peoria. She is also preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister.

She is survived by three daughters, Jan McAllister of Peoria, Karen (Mike) Weimer of Glasford and Becky (Dan) Clark of Metamora. She has nine grandchildren, Cindi (Rodney) Koehl, Tommy (Connie) Alberts, Stacey (Rich) Barto, Troy (Jennifer) Lawson, Chris (Mike) Bartlett, Waylon Logsdon, Brenda (Don) Taylor, Rodney (Cara ) Alig and Brian (Jamie) Alig; 16 great grandchildren, Dakota, Dalton and Drake Koehl, Brittany and Bailey Barto, Chloe Lawson, Colton Dahlem, Jessica Lamb, Cassie Scurry, Asher Dean Logsdon, Aaron, Brandon and Corey Taylor, Jalen, Calen and Paisley Alig; 5 great great grandchildren, Hunter and Ethan Bartlett, Nevaeh Ash, Deikyn Scurry and Payton Alig. She has one sister, Lucy “Teen” Stevens of Peoria.

Betty was an avid Cubs fan. She loved horse racing, her favorite horse was Animal Kingdom. She worked at Vollmer’s Restaurant for several years, Hiram Walker Distillery during WWII. She and her husband owned and operated Buck + Betty’s Rocky Glen Tap for 15 years and she later worked at Jan’s Tap for 17 years. Betty enjoyed her family every day. She enjoyed going shopping and out to eat with her daughters. Family was her everything.

Visitation will be Friday, July 22, 2016 from 5PM until 7PM at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. The Rev.
