Betty I. Shilling

Betty I. Shilling, 91, of Bartonville, Illinois, died Saturday evening, August 11, 2012 at Belwood Nursing Home in Peoria, Illinois. She was born March 6, 1921 in Castleton, Illinois. Betty was the daughter of Zurl and Anna (Tess) Hanchett. She was first married to John E. Shilling Sr. on November 3, 1940 in Burlington, Iowa who preceded her in death on July 28,1973. She later married Raymond Shilling on January 26, 1974, he preceded her in death in Eldorado Springs, Missouri. She is also preceded in death by one son, John E. Shilling Jr., 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Betty is survived by two children, Joanne Harris of Arvada, Colorado, and Gary (Catherine) Shilling of Bartonville, Illinois. One daughter in law, Sharon Shilling survives in Creve Couer, Illinois. She has 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Betty worked over 50 years as a caregiver and Licensed Practical Nurse at the Missouri State Hospital and the Peoria State Hospital. She also owned the Home Upholstery Shop in Hanna City for 15 years. She was a member of the Southside Church of God and the Maxwell Church of God.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
