Charles "Chuck" Arnold Varnes

Chuck was born on December 24, 1932 in Peoria County to Arnold William and Mary Louise (Lowder) Varnes.  He married Clarellen Coots on July 19, 1963 in Peoria.

Chuck is survived by his wife; his children, Sonja (Randy) Whitehurst of Hanna City, IL, Debra Kohl of Canton, IL, Chuck (Kim) Varnes, Jr. of Hanna City, IL, Steve (Jessica) Varnes of Spring Valley, IL, Mike (Joyce) Varnes of Liberal, KS and Dave Varnes of Farmington, IL; 21 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Carlton Varnes.

Chuck was a cattle buyer for Armor & Co. and Calihan Packing Co. and cattle seller for Dick Herm Firm before he retired into farming and was a member and trustee of the Glasford Baptist Church.

Service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 10am at the Glasford Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Cook and Pastor Albert Lynn officiating.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel.  Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Hanna City.

Memorials may be made to the Glasford Baptist Church, Peoria Rescue Mission or Hanna City Fire.
