

Derell M. Fleener, 75, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away Friday, November 4, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 7, 1941 in Lynnville, Indiana to Leroy Wendell and Cleva Ruth (Snyder) Fleener. He married Sue Ellen Filzen on March 25, 1991 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives.
Also surviving are four children, Shawn (Kim) Fleener of El Paso, Illinois, Kraig Fleener of Creve Coeur, Illinois, Jacob Taylor of Caledonia, Mississippi and Jed (Christy) Taylor of Peoria, Illinois. He has 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Matt, Katie, Emily Fleener, Brittni, Blaine, Brady, Chelsea, Raine and Cole Taylor; two great grandchildren, Landon and Ellie Wright. He has two sisters, Marilyn (Harold) Hester and Donna (Elmer) Lant. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marvin L. Fleener.
Derell worked as an IT Analyst for over 34 years at Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 1998. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. He was a member of the Peoria Elks Lodge and the Bartonville American Legion Post 979. Derell was an avid golfer and bowler and was a former member of the Timber Lake Country Club. He was of the Lutheran faith.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 AM until services on Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Cremation rites will be accorded following services and inurnment will be at a later date in Lynnville, Indiana.
