Garry J. Griffith

Garry J. Griffith, 78, of Bartonville, Illinois, died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Illinois. He was born December 4, 1934 in Galesburg, Illinois. He was the son of Joseph and Louise (Perry) Griffith. He married Barbara Anderson on September 1, 1956 in Peoria, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife, two children, Susan (Russell) Jaegle of Decatur, Illinois and Thomas (Tammy) Griffith of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He has four grandchildren, Tim Jaegle, Robyn Herren, Laura Jaegle and Henry Griffith and three great grandchildren, Angelea Jaegle, Taylor Herren and Elijah Jaegle. He is also survived by one sister, Lurla (Richard) Mayne of Augusta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thomas Griffith.

Garry worked 45 years at Caterpillar Inc. working in Defense Products, he retired in 1997. He was very active for over 50 years in numerous golf and bowling leagues in the Peoria area and was very involved in coaching for several years with the Limestone American Baseball Team. He also taught roller skating for many years to area youth.

Memorial Services will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be from 3PM to 5PM at the funeral chapel on Sunday. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Illinois.
