Gary "Q" Quenon

Gary “Q” Quenon, 72, of Mapleton, Illinois, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 17, 1943 in Pekin, Illinois to Anthony and Grace (Clark) Quenon. He married Barbara Birkett-Hecht on August 20, 1988 in Browning, Illinois. She survives.

Also surviving are four children, Ty (Jayma) Quenon and Gary (Brenda) Quenon II both of Quincy, Illinois, Chris Hecht of Bartonville, Illinois and Cheryl Davis of Celebration, Florida. He has 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and one sister, Barbara (Paul) Rosson of Mendon, Illinois.

Gary was a union carpenter for over 30 years working out of Pekin Local #644, retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Pekin Boat Club, Bartonville American Legion Post 979, Pekin Eagles Lodge and the Friends of the Sanganois. He was an avid duck hunter and a die- hard Kevin Harvick NASCAR fan and the Chicago Bears. He was a professional dirt track racer in his younger years and a U.S. Army Veteran.

A Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 1PM until 5PM at the Pekin Boat Club in Pekin. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the OSF Hospice.
