

She was born January 8, 1918 in Peoria, IL to Harold and Verna (Churchill) Bridgeman. She married Lyle Thomas on February 14, 1936. He preceded her in death on August 12, 1980 . Also preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Robert and James Bridgeman.
Surviving are her three children, Garnet (Roger) Ledbetter of Peoria, Jerry (Carol) Thomas of Bartonville, and Sandra Foster of Smithfield, IL; and one sister, Verna Jean Keyes of South Pekin. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Linda (Joe Heurmann) Ledbetter, Kevin (Tammy) Ledbetter, Brian Ledbetter, Greg (Julie) Ledbetter, Karla (Kevin) Nelson, Troy Thomas, Bruce (Jarilyn) Thomas, Cindy Baughman, Scott (Tammy) Baughman, Todd (Sheila) Baughman and Curtis (Debby) Baughman; 29 great-grandchildren and over 30 great-great-grandchildren.
Gladys worked as a clerk with the Teamsters Union for many years before retiring. She was a life-long member of Bartonville United Methodist Church, where she served on several committees and played the organ. Gladys enjoyed traveling and was especially fond of visiting Europe and the Middle East. She also enjoyed playing the organ, knitting, crocheting, but was known for her quilting and crafted many quilts for her family. Her greatest love was being able to spend time with her family.
A funeral will be on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
