He was born November 12, 1947 in Lexington, Tennessee to Austin and Ilene (Rainey) Bradford. He married Susan Chanley on December 23, 1967 in East Prairie, Missouri, she survives.
Hugh is also survived by his son, Bryan (Beverly) Bradford; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Daniel and Lorice Bradford; his sister, Judy Bradford; his brother, Jim Bradford.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Hugh retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in 1997 after a long and successful career, but even in retirement, he never stopped working.
Hugh was an avid sports fan, with a deep love for the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls, and a special fondness for Formula 1 racing and Liverpool soccer.
A talented musician, Hugh played bass in a local band and enjoyed sharing his love for music with others.
His heart was also in coaching, and he gave back to the community by coaching Junior Football League (JFL) and soccer.
Hugh took great pride in his home and spent countless hours maintaining his yard, enjoying the peace and tranquility it provided.
Above all, Hugh's greatest joy was his family. He adored his grandchildren and found immense happiness in their laughter and company. His friends, too, held a special place in his heart, and his kindness, humor, and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Cremation rites have been accorded, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
