Jacqueline K Merriman, age 51, of Peoria, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 3:06 a.m. in East Peoria after a long battle with addiction and mental health issues. She was born Dec. 15, 1971 in Peoria to Johnnie and Janet (Bergantz) Short. Jacqueline is survived by her mother, Janet Mavetz of Peoria, her father, Johnnie Short of Bartonville, two daughters: Makenzie Merriman of Germantown Hills, Abbigael (Jacob) Blackard of Mapleton, ten grandchildren: Paislie, Nash, Vince, Cruz, Knox, Bryn, Bo, Maev, Joleen, Indy, and two sisters: Darcie Schultz of Bartonville, and Christie (Jason) Koenig of Trivoli.
Jacqueline graduated from Limestone Community High School in 1990 and many years later became a CNA in the Peoria area. Although Jacqueline fought a lifelong battle with depression, anxiety, and addiction she did not let this stigma define her. She was known for being kind, generous, and always chose to see the best in everyone she met.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Esther House in Peoria.
