Jesse C. Henderson

He was born April 15, 1928, in Alton, Ill., to Floyd W. and Jessie (Burge) Henderson. He married Opal Marie Jackson on July 23, 1947, in Peoria. She died Aug. 1, 2008, in Peoria. He later married Alice (Donaldson) Hershe on June 4, 2010, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Diana (Denny) Shepherd of Mesa, Ariz., and Susan (Robert) Sawatzki of Peoria; three grandsons, Bruce (Beth) Burton of Brimfield, John Burton of Peoria and Troy (Heidi) Sawatzki of Peoria; four stepchildren, Jim (Gigi) Bridgeforth of Clearwater, Fla., William Jones of Peoria, Donna Carter of Pontiac and Dan (Jamie) Jones of Pontiac; three granddaughters, Tracy (Cody) Tschaepe of Peoria, Lisa (Brian) Schults of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Lorri (Aaron) Childs of Mesa, Ariz.; 10 great-grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Jack worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 36 years, retiring as a machine operator. He was also a veteran of the National Guard and enjoyed building model planes in his spare time.

He was a member of Laramie St. Baptist Church, where services will be at 12 noon Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011. The Rev. Jeremy Davis will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
