

John J. Glaub, 91, of Bartonville, Illinois, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 30, 1922 in Metamora, Illinois. He was the son of John R. and Elizabeth C.(Schlosser) Glaub. He married Christine N. Ferris on June 28, 1980 in Peoria, Illinois. She preceded him in death on September 20, 1993 in Peoria, Illinois. He is also preceded in death by two sons, four brothers and one sister.
He is survived by three children, Sherry Miller of Peoria, Illinois, Tamia (David) Johnson of Garner, North Carolina and Brenda (Charles) Johnson of Peoria, Illinois. He has 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He worked 40 years as quality control on the bottling line at Hiram Walker Distillery in Peoria, retiring in 1982. He was a World War II Army Veteran and a member of the VFW Post in Metamora, Illinois. He was also a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bartonville. John refereed basketball for over 20 years in the Illinois High School Association and was a honorary member of the Illinois High School Association Hall of Fame.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bartonville. Father David Heinz will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Cremation rites will be accorded and inurnment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria at a later date.
