Larry Chester Jones, Sr., 75, of Marquette Heights, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022 at his home. He was born on December 11, 1946 in Peoria, a son of Lewis C. and Patsy Lou (Lewis) Jones. Larry married Joan Tate on November 18, 1967 in Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by his son, Larry (Leticia) Jones, Jr. of Washington; daughter-in-law, Sara Jones of Pekin; two granddaughters, Jenna and Jillian Jones of Pekin; two sisters, Judith (Ronnal) Bright of Marquette Heights and Diane (Thomas) Meinders of Peoria; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Jones; brother-in-law, Les Tate; sister-in-law, Evelyn Tate; and step-mother, Josephine Jones.
Larry served his country in the United States Army.
He owned and operated J & L Home Remodeling for 7 years, retiring in 2005. Larry previously worked as a millwright for Caterpillar, Inc. for 32 years, retiring in 1997.
He was a past member of Three Lakes Sportsman’s Club in Victoria. He loved to hunt, fish, and go camping.
Larry's funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Friday, April 22, 2022 at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. His visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm also on Friday at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
