

She was born Dec. 4, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ray and Myrtle Faye (Terrell) Anderson. She married Donald “Hootie” Otten April 23, 1955 in Bellevue. Hootie and Marilyn had a great and happy life full of family and friends. They celebrated 50 years together before he passed away Oct. 12, 2005 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one grandson Teddy Barnes and one sister, Mary Louise Pullen.
Survivors include one daughter, Denise (Kevin) Barnes of St. Paul, MN, two sons: Jeffrey (Kathy) Otten of Bartonville, Kevin Otten of Bellevue, five grandchildren: Lindsey (Jon) Simmons, Brandon Otten, Lauren Otten, Cory Otten, Wesley Barnes, one great-grandson, Wyatt Simmons, three sisters: Beverly (Walter) White of West Peoria, Judie (James) King of Peoria, Debbie Miller of California, and one brother, Terry Anderson of Los Angeles, CA.
Marilyn loved her family and was never happier than when they were sitting around the kitchen table chatting, having a meal, and playing games. She always appreciated the special attention and care that her sisters and brother showed her.
Marilyn worked as an Operator then later a Supervisor for Illinois Bell-AT&T for 31 years retiring in 1985. She was a member of the West Peoria Elks Club, Christ Lutheran Church, Lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers, and the Illinois Bell Birthday Club. She was a loyal friend to “the kids at work” and enjoyed the times on the job and especially after hours.
Funeral service will be Saturday April 14, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Additional visitation will be Saturday one half hour prior to the services at church.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Galesburg.
