Matthew was born on June 23, 1981, in Peoria, the son of Daniel and Margaret Matzke.
Surviving him is his father, Daniel Matzke of Mapleton; two sons, Mace (10) and Miller (3) Matzke of Mapleton; one brother, Chris (Christi) Matzke and their children Ayden (17) and Abbie (15) Ackers of Hanna City; and one sister, Michelle (Zach Jacobson) Matzke of Peoria.
Matthew is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Matzke; paternal grandparents, Marvin and Esther Matzke; and maternal grandparents, Fred and Edith Dickinson.
Matthew graduated from Illini Bluffs High School in Glasford in 1999. Matthew worked many years in landscaping and snow removal and recently began working in construction. He enjoyed fishing, playing sports, watching the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Yankees, and spending time with his sons. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There will be no service at this time.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mace and Miller Matzke's Educational Fund care of Wells Fargo Advisors.
