He was born June 24, 1944 in Plainfield, New Jersey to Rex and Jesse Ione (Samuels) McMorris Sr. He married Susan Kay McCoy in Peoria on August 20, 1966, she survives.
Rex is also survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Steve) Passie-Wooden of Bartonville and his son, Rex (Jolyn) McMorris III of East Peoria; grandson, Cole Passie of East Peoria and granddaughter, Gabriele McMorris of East Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sandra Fernstrom; and grandson, Camron Passie.
Rex McMorris was a dedicated electrician who devoted 30 years of his life to Caterpillar, INC.
Beyond his professional achievements, Rex was a Grand Master at Alta Lodge, showcasing his passion for community and camaraderie.
His involvement in the Ivac Club for antique cars and the Mid-Illinois Corvette Club demonstrated his love for classic automobiles, fostering connections with fellow enthusiasts who shared his appreciation for automotive history.
Rex's greatest love was his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, with funeral service to follow. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made in Rex’s name to Shriners Hospital for Children.
