Ron Norman

Ron was born July 30, 1934 in Rushville, IL to Harry and Esther (Boyles) Norman. He married Joanne Collins February 17, 1957. She preceded him in death. His parents; and sister, Jane also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughter, Geanie (Don) Thornton of Mapleton; one sister, JoAnn (Denny) Waldron of Peoria; one niece; two great nephews; and one great niece.

Ron was a U.S. Army veteran. During his service with the Army, he once played drums with Buddy Rich.

He worked at Caterpillar building LL for 31 years, retiring in 1997. He loved his job and was a dedicated employee.

Ron enjoyed listening to his extensive music collection of the 1940s and 1950s. He loved to sit in his front yard with a cup of coffee talking with his daughter.

Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel in Bartonville. Rev. Dr. Philip D. Lund will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the services, with private burial at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heartland of Peoria. This donation will help the activities department on the Arcadia Unit, the Alzheimer’s Unit.
