Ruth Norma Allen

BARTONVILLE- Ruth Norma Allen (Schmidt) went to heaven peacefully at her home at 12:53 a.m. on October 29, 2021. She was 102 years old. Ruth was born on May 11, 1919, to Frank and Elizabeth Schmidt. She married Herman Allen on June 30, 1937. She attended school in Peoria and was the oldest of two children.

Ruth was the mother to Dwayne (Karol) Allen, Gary (Terri) Allen and a daughter Norma Manz (deceased).

Ruth was a loving grandmother to Gary Michael Manz, Kimberly (Kevin) Schwitters and their children Kyle (Ashley Ryant), Patrick, Shayna, Autum, Chase and Johnathon. Brenda (Michael) Waag and their children Nichole (Luke) and their child Parker Stephens. Alyssa (Marcus) Brockett and their children Benjamin and Carsyn. Mark (Mindy) Allen and their children Stacy (Tommy) Landen, Sophia and Tanner Meadows. Amber (Derrik) Rebecca Hall. Jeff (Dawn) and their children Emily (Cody) Byrum and Cameron Allen. Scott and his children Brooke and Braden Allen. Kurt (Suzy Bullard) Allen.

She was very proud of her many grandchildren and nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herman Allen, brother Russell Schmidt, and 1 great granddaughter Kayla Schwitters.

During Ruth’s life she was a loyal member of Christ Lutheran Church for 93 years. She was in Evangelism and serving others in whatever way she could. Her hobby was cleaning and keeping an immaculate home. She was a custodian for Hollis grade school and Mel Allen Construction. She managed the shoe store for Keystone Steel and Wire.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria, with services to follow at 11 a.m. Rev. Karl Eckhoff will officiate.

Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.

Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
