far too young to lose, but, as he said, he’d been “living on borrowed time,” determined to enjoy

his family as long as possible, gifting us with his humor, generosity, and joy of living.

Tim’s great passion was theatre, and he lived it professionally as well as off-stage in all aspects

of his life. He approached camping trips, household repairs, cooking, wine-making, elaborate

holiday celebrations the same way he stage-managed productions: everything meticulously

planned with a keen eye always on the dramatic possibilities. Tim was a relentless list-maker!

Born 1954 in Chicago, his love of theatre began in high school, then as a theatre major at

Bradley University where he studied with Tom Joyce, who he later collaborated with at the Left

Bank Dinner Theatre. Tim’s first job out of college was Shop Foreman at Oklahoma Theatre

Center and, soon after, as Artistic Director of the Jackson Civic Theatre (MI).

Tim found a home back in Chicago at Wisdom Bridge Theatre where he served as stage

manager for eight seasons. Highlights included Ten November and working with Shozo Sato on

Kabuki Medea and Kabuki Macbeth.

Tim was thrilled for the opportunity to follow Robert Falls to The Goodman Theatre, teaming with

Production Stage Manager Joe Drummond for 20 years. A few of his favorite productions there

were The Light in the Piazza, The Visit, Death of a Salesman, and A Moon for the Misbegotten.

Over the years, Tim brought shows to The Kennedy Center, Annenberg Center, Arena Stage,

Civic Opera House, and the Israel Festival in Jerusalem.

Though theatre was his passion and production schedules are hardly conducive to family life,

Tim was devoted to his wife Paula Petrini Lynch and their two daughters, Caterina Mackowiak

(Adam) and Maureen Lynch. His long-time partner at The Goodman Theatre, Joe Drummond

said that when he and Tim took breaks they talked a lot about their kids and family.

In addition to Paula, Caterina, and Maureen, many more in Tim’s extended family will miss him:

his brothers Pete, Dan, Bill, Mike, Jim (dec) and their families; his nieces and nephews; his

son-in-law Adam; the Petrini clan, Steve, Kris, and Julia; his life-long friend Tom Beyer; his

Peoria friends; and, of course, the many, many colleagues he has had the pleasure to work with.

Stage Manager to the end, Tim directed us and kept us laughing with his razor sharp wit until

the final curtain.
