Viola “Betty” E. VanHouten, 83, formerly of West Peoria, Illinois, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Proctor Hospital in Peoria. She was born on May 26, 1929 in Camargo, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Otis and Lola (Standard) Lingenfelter.
She is survived by three sons, Steve (Barb) Zilch, Jim (Nancy) Zilch and John (Stephanie) Zilch. She has eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Betty has one brother, Leonard (Lois) Lingenfelter and three sisters, Carol Gibson, Iona (Jesse) Fowler, and Mickey Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, four sisters, and one great granddaughter, Ryleigh Elizabeth Zilch.
Betty worked at Szold’s Department Store and Bemis Bag in Peoria for many years.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 11, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria, Illinois.
